Life lately 💭🧘🏻‍♀️🇮🇹🧴☕️💉

The socials have been quiet on the clinic front lately but I’m still here @nursechantal_ delivering your treatments and all the rest that is life. I always seem to pack lots of things into the warmer months and this year I may have ramped it up quite a bit 😂🤪 I say every year I won’t book as much in or plan 23666 trips and never learn, going at 300mph then feel frazzled by August 😆🙈

How it started vs how it currently is in my personal skin journey 🙊💓

Back in the day circa 2010 and fast forward to today is where I’m at in my own personal journey & investment into my skin & face 🥰…. A reminder it’s not just a quick fix, it’s often lengthy, a lot of consistency, trial and (sometimes error) along the way. Hopefully not a significant error, just some unrealistic expectations here on my own part and yet lots of good advice, treatments and the odd correction along the way 💓… best thing I had done was my lip filler dissolving and a little refresh with the icing on the cake of the most perfect lip blush tattoo by the wonderful @rebeccarennoldsclinic in Skipton. Advanced Clinical Practitioner 🔁 Skin Clinic Nurse Practitioner

Two roles. One purpose.

I’ve been writing a few reflections recently, my revalidation is due soon but sometimes getting a few things down on paper is the best way to think about things and either put them to bed or work out what to do next. Which got me thinking about these two roles, independently & collaboratively.

In the ED within my role I see all undifferentiated presentations, some I like to see and feel comfortable with more than others, some give me raging anxiety over (because you don’t want to fail or get anything wrong) and some you have fear over but equally give you excitement to see and sort out where the outcome is good and you feel you have done your absolute best, often going beyond. Starting out in aesthetics & skin has also delivered similar feelings based around different treatments. Some I love, others the fear is real but equally with a determination to learn and conquer that fear.

Obviously the pace is completely different within my skin & aesthetics clinic. It’s not fast & brutal like ED can be, the stress isn’t the same nor the quick decision making in high stakes situations, thankfully (because I like the rest away from that for my own sanity 😆).

What I will say though:

Yes in my skin and aesthetics clinic the setting is calmer but the care is just as intentional. I support people through deeply personal skin concerns acne, pigmentation, ageing & self-esteem.

On the surface, they seem like two different worlds.
But the truth is… they’re rooted in the same values.

✅ Patient-centered care
✅ Safe, ethical decision-making
✅ Real, measurable results

Obviously this is just my personal opinion and others who do similar may feel differently but for me both roles compliment each other. I’m first and foremost a nurse and bring all that encompasses into everything I do ❤️

No one really prepares you for starting out in aesthetics 🤯💉

There’s no handbook. No roadmap. Just a lot of “figure it out” energy, especially when you’re a nurse, a practitioner and a business owner all in one.

I started this journey with passion, but also with fear. In a field that’s often full of polish and perfection online, the real behind-the-scenes? It’s trial and error. It’s learning how to price, market, treat, consent, order stock, answer DMs — and still find time to believe in yourself.

✨ Skin Peels = promotes skin resurfacing + new cell growth for that radiant glowing skin ✨

THE AlumierMD PEEL PROCESS :

1. The basics first - a chemical peel will loosen Velcro-like bonds between healthy and dead skin cells; this promotes resurfacing and promotes new cell growth.

2. After cleansing, we will lower the pH of the skin to ensure the peel solution can penetrate effectively.

3. The peel solution is applied like a facemask and is left on the skin for up to 20 minutes. A neutraliser solution is applied after the allocated time to end the treatment. We also adapt the peel to you and can add in additional protocol based products in the peel process.

4. The skin might be a little red for a few hours and you may experience some irritation. This is normal. We provide you with a post peel kit to help minimise any downtime that can result in dry skin. Peeling can last for up to 5/7 days.

There are some clinicians and HCP on this app and the other socials who discuss and consider facials negatively in terms of the benefits of skin aging and subsequent improvements. However, we all don’t necessarily want to inject filler or other products into our face to enhance our appearance and rejuvenate ourselves. I’m not filler bashing or indeed insinuating negatively over other injectable products they definitely have a time and a place and appropriateness for other concerns, some which deliver amazing results btw.
